boo

hai! x ! yes I am still here, somewhat EVERYWHERE but here now, and now is all that matters x + I prom I wont go away for that length of time ever again! it makes me realise how many of you have actually become addicted to my little blog though which is very cute to know! i missed you allllll!!! espesh you leashy!!! this post is for YOU!!! i just love it. very wise words written.

"""Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy."""

summer

"It's funny how one summer can change everything. It must be something about the heat and the smell of chlorine, fresh cut grass and honeysuckle, asphalt sizzling after late-day thunderstorms, the steam rising while everything drips around it. Something about long, lazy days and whirring air conditioners and bright plastic flip flops from the drugstore thwacking down the street. Something about fall being so close, another year, another Christmas, another beginning. So much in one summer, stirring up like the storms that crest at the end of the day, blowing out all the heat and dirt to leave everything gasping and cool. Everyone can reach back to one summer and lay a finger to it, finding that exact point when everything changed."

big city

It's easy to feel insignificant in a big city. There are so many things to do, so much action, a billion lights and noises all around us...

This series titled “People and Places” by English photographer Jasper James, creates an interesting idea between the city of Beijing and its citizens. These photos leave the impression that although the city may be big, it is made up of thousands of individuals, who in their own unique way, make the modern metropolis special.

I heart this idea.

your are

the manifesto of encouragement

right now:

There are Tibetan Buddhist monks in a temple in the Himalayas endlessly reciting mantras for the cessation of your suffering and for the flourishing of your happiness.

Someone you haven't met yet is already dreaming of adoring you.

Someone is writing a book that you will read in the next two years that will change how you look at life.

Nuns in the Alps are in endless vigil, praying for the Holy Spirit to alight the hearts of all of God's children.

A farmer is looking at his organic crops and whispering, "nourish them."

Someone
wants to kiss you, to hold you, to make tea for you. Someone is willing to lend you money, wants to know what your favourite food is, and treat you to a movie. Someone in your orbit has something immensely valuable to give you -- for free.

Something is being invented this year that will change how your generation lives, communicates, heals and passes on.

The next great song is being rehearsed.

Thousands of people are in yoga classes right now intentionally sending light out from their heart chakras and wrapping it around the earth

Millions of children are assuming that everything is amazing and will always be that way.

Someone is in profound pain, and a few months from now, they'll be thriving like never before. They just can't see it from where they're at.

Someone who is craving to be partnered, to be acknowledged, to ARRIVE, will get precisely what they want -- and even more. And because that gift will be so fantastical in it's reach and sweetness, it will quite magically alter their memory of angsty longing and render it all "So worth the wait."

Someone has recently cracked open their joyous, genuine nature because they did the hard work of hauling years of oppression off of their psyche -- this luminous juju is floating in the ether, and is accessible to you.

Someone just this second wished for world peace, in earnest.

Someone is fighting the fight so that you don't have to.

Some civil servant is making sure that you get your mail, and your garbage is picked up, that the trains are running on time, and that you are generally safe. Someone is dedicating their days to protecting your civil liberties and clean drinking water.

Someone is regaining their sanity. Someone is coming back from the dead. Someone is genuinely forgiving the seemingly unforgivable. Someone is curing the incurable.

You. Me. Some. One. Now. . . . . . . .

SPREAD THE RA-RA. ADD TO THE MANIFESTO. ENCOURAGE.

glamour

scarfie love:

Like me, many of you probably have hoards of vintage scarves buried away in your closet. If not, they are super cheap and easy to find at your favorite vintage store/thrift shop/flea market.

This is a great way to put them to new use! you'll need:
- 2 silk scarves
- straight pins, sewing machine, thread
- 4 grommets
- approximately 20-22" chain (use old thrift store jewelry!)
-jewelry pliers to manipulate chain

begin by pinning the two together...... to create an hourglass shape down the middle, please note you want to keep this shape a little over-sized (in relation to your body). this is a no-zip dress, so you must make sure it can slip on & off easily.

sew the scarves together along the lines you marked with straight pins . a sewing machine is preferred for this step, but if you don't have one, it could certainly be done by hand.

next, mark on both sides of the dress (either with thread or tailor's chalk) where your straps will go. plan on placing them approximately 10" apart: you can either hand-stitch your chain straps directly to these points, or install grommets to loop them through.

using either your grommets or a needle & thread, attach 2 chain straps (it's up to you whether these match or not).

Wala! Simple as that, give it a try

by hand

Its easy to forget the beauty of more traditional mediums now that the world has all this digital art. Supremely talented artist - Andrea Joseph, takes us back to that place with her wonderful hand drawings. Using nothing more than pencils and pen, she creates incredibly detailed illustrations of everything all that pops into her mind.

"I started by mapping a little bit of the drawing on the page. Not too much, just somewhere to start, because I like the rest to unfold. I like the drawing to reveal itself to me...." - Andrea Joseph

Apologies for my absence! Life has been hectic to the extreme! Im back now, much love and thoughts to you all

grandosity!

now

somebody should tell us, right at the start of our lives, that we are dying.
Then we might live life to the limit, every minute of every day.
"Well Do it!" I say. Whatever you want to do, do it now.
There are only so many tomorrows.

images in my dreams

Jacek Yerka was born in Toruń, Poland, in 1952 - where he later studied fine art and graphic design. According to Yerka, he was pressured by his university instructors to eschew detail and realism in favor of the fashion of the times - but did not relent, adhering to the meticulous classic Flemish technique that still typifies his work. In time they came to see him as a brilliant - though troubled - talent. Yerka graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, specializing in printmaking. He began working full time as an artist in 1980. Beaut.
