Wren.

In Refinery29's newsletter I discovered Wren... a new clothing brand launched by Melissa Coker. The brand's name is derived from "Dickens' Jenny Wren, a crippled doll dressmaker with a pure heart." Melissa says the line is "prone to be a bit of subtle, old-world romanticism, and the name befits that feeling." If you like what you see here, click here for more pieces from the current Wren collection. Classy, I love.

Miss Fortune to be!

I dedicate this post to the precious, inspirational, true and delightful love of Monique Spiers and Steve Fortune. Monique has been my best friend ever since we met and nothing can ever show how much I love this bunny! Her boyfriend has recently proposed to her in the loveliest possible way! And after the big moment, while they were walking along the beach, a RING washed to the shore! Which fit her wedding finger! What a fateful coincidence! This glam couple are completely meant-to-be!

I went to the Stamford Plaza Wedding Expo with Monique in the weekend, so many ideas, love, planning, joy, and then out comes Monique with "Mel, will you be my bridesmaid?" which resulted in me crying the happiest tears ever, and giving her the most love-filled hug in the world! Of course I will be!!

I cant wait to celebrate this beautiful love and be part of this incredible day! X

Bikram.

I am addicted, to something very HOT, it is all I need to provide my body with everything it needs, and I need it at least once a day.... - BIKRAM YOGA, silly! ;)

Bikram Yoga can assist in preventing illness, injury, promoting weight loss and limiting the effects of aging. The series is done in a heated room in order to warm your muscles, allowing for a deeper safer stretch, and to assist the body in its cleansing of toxins. Bikram Yoga ultimately combines and refines skills of concentration, determination, patience, faith and self control, leading to increased mental clarity and increased resistance to the negative effects of stress.

East West Bikram Yoga comprises two studios serving yoga students in Auckland. The Newmarket studio opened in May 2004, and Ponsonby in May 2008. Both studios teach Bikram Yoga in the style personified by Bikram himself - a straight up asana and pranayama class which encourages you to take responsibility for your own yoga practice, and ultimately your life!! All the teachers are trained with Bikram Choudhury through his twice-yearly international trainings, and regularly updated with seminars held by Bikram and other senior teachers.

Bikram Choudhury began his study of yoga in his native India at a very early age, practising yoga at Ghosh's College of Physical Education. By the age thirteen, he won the National India Yoga Championship. He was undefeated for the following three years and retired as the undisputed All-India National Yoga Champion.

At seventeen, an injury to his knee during a weight-lifting accident brought the prediction from doctors that he would never walk again. Not accepting their pronouncement, he returned to Bishnu Ghosh's school, for he knew that if anyone could help to heal his knee, it was his teacher. Six months later, his knee had totally recovered. Ghosh was a celebrated physical culturist and the first to scientifically document Yoga's ability to cure chronic physical ailments and heal the body.

Combining Eastern discipline and Western medicine, Bikram has since dedicated his life to teaching his method of yoga in the United States and around the world. From his base in Los Angeles, Bikram and his senior teachers also undertake teacher training so that others can teach his unique style of yoga. For more information about Bikram Choudhury see:

Macaroons.

For longer than I can remember I have been completely and utterly in love, with macaroons. I beg the food gods... please provide Auckland with a delicious macaroon boutique! We macaroon lovers are in dire need of this. Cupcakes I have not forgotten you! But baking you is ohso much fun. There are always Sydney's many yummy cupcake stores. Hmmm I'm thinking... cupcake shopping spree, and macaroon hunting spree, definitely necessary. Drool!x

Skin yummies.

Origins skincare range of deliciousities ... my newest skincare fave. I discovered the actual brand whilst couch-surfing in Bangkok at our CS buddy, Rose's, wee apartment with my travelling buddy, Danilo. In her bathroom, I spotted a few simple glass bottles in a row, looking pretty, smelling devine, and she highly recommended them. I decided I must venture out to find these treats!

I narrowed my absolute must haves down to: --
A Perfect World Moisturizing Lotion with White Tea -- they call this product the "Fountain of Youth".... Utopias own Silver Tip White Tea helps block oxidation, deterioration, dehydration. Revitalizing Trehalose serves up a heaping helping of hydration to keep skin comfortably soft, noticeably smooth. White Birch Extract provides a youthfully firm look and feel; Best for combination/dry skin.

I also loved
Matte Scientist Oil Controlling Lotion; Watch and feel as natural science performs a major mattification while giving moisture-phobic faces the healthy dose of oil-free hydration they need to feel fresh and smooth, not dried out. The latest advances: Phlorogine subtracts surplus shine and keeps even the most oil-rich skins in check. Sage super-purifies. Jewelweed Nectar helps negate irritating substances. Won't smother skin. Won't clog pores.

They
all smell so natural, fresh and simple; what I endeavour to find in a skincare range. They are the first line of prestige skin care products to be certified under the USDA Natural Organic Program. Formulated with ingredients grown without the use of toxic or persistent chemical pesticides or herbicides. So they not only do beautiful things for your skin, they help keep the planet a more beautiful place. Why on earth would you use anything else? ;) These few products have left me craving the entire range, and actually inspired me to buy a whole range of organic make up and hair products. Yum. Don't get me wrong, I am still head over heels for L'occitane... So I am using both products; L'occitane cleansers, Origins lotion in evening and moisturiser in the morning, which is working amazingly well.

Kitten kisses, MK Xx

I like to have tea with cats. miaow.

Japan; the wonderland that creates all the weirdest and wackiest. "Neko no mise" -- Shop of cats (!!!) This has got to be one of the cutest ideas that I have heard of, and so glad Japan can get away with things not so "normal" to the rest of the world! I love it! Things which arent usual rock my mind. >

Cat cafés are huge in Japan right now. As the name suggests, these are coffee shops where cat lovers go to sip overpriced lattes and hang out with an adorable smoosh pile of kitties. In the past five years, exactly 79 such cafés have popped up all over Japan. What’s weird is that the café cats aren’t expensive pedigreed felines like Persians or those other ones with the funny bendy ears, they’re just the everyday mixed breeds you might find in the back lot of your local supermarket, cats who, in the immortal words of Brian Setzer, “slink down the alley, looking for a fight/Howling to the moonlight on a hot summer night.” Likewise, in the past few years, there’s been an explosion of photo books and DVDs featuring average-joe cats. If people are so fascinated by what are essentially domesticated alley cats, why don’t they just swoop one up from the legions of strays all over Japan and take them home? I’ll tell you why: because landlords in Japan are MEAN and obviously do not own a kitty!

Thirty-eight-year-old Norimasa Hanada, the owner of
Neko no mise, Tokyo’s first-ever cat café, explains the problem: “Most Japanese rental apartments prohibit pets. The only ones that allow them are condominium apartments for families. This means that young, single-dwelling workers in their 20s and 30s can’t even think about getting any pets, despite the fact that they’re stressed out and are seeking comfort and companionship of some kind.”

Well, IMO..... this is yet another reason I dream of Japan living. I am the crazy cat lady after all! Lets have a tea party with the kittens, kittens -- how puuurrrfect heeh! x
